The First Los Angeles 7s - Noodle Ratings
This past weekend we headed up to Los Angeles for stop 5 of the HSBC 7s World Series. It was the first time the tournament was held in the city of angels and a spicy time was had by all. We rocked up in Noodle Bagz from all different countries and gave away a few one-off international pairs to anyone willing to throw them on right then and there.
THE CROWD
It never seemed overwhelmingly full but to be fair lots of people were walking around the stadium. There was a good atmosphere as always during the USA. Fiji, and Kenya games. Judging by the number of photos people took with the Noodle Bagz lads we put attendance somewhere between 260,000 and 1.2 million. Late afternoon on Saturday the Noodle Bagz were out in full force catching the last bit of sun in the “Hot Corner.”

THE LOCATION
The stadium is a great size and no matter where you sit you’ve got a great view of the action. LA is massive so there will always be a little commute. That said it was nice to stay by the beach. We obviously took a quick swim by the Hermosa pier before heading to the stadium. We are excited at the hopes of seeing the stadium fill up. The pitch looked great for a Noodle Bagz 7s game... just sayin. -

THE FOOTY
There was some exceptional rugby on display. The tournament got off to a great start with a big upset for Spain defeating England. The USA, unfortunately, was unable to defend their title but did pull out a gutsy finish in the end. Australia and Fiji were impressive and there were more big hits than Karaoke night at our local bar. In the end, the final was one of the most exciting games this season with South Africa mounting an incredible come back to win in sudden death. Big congrats also to Perry Baker and Carlin Ilse for hitting 200 tries each!

THE NOODLE BAGZ
Photos were taken, punches were thrown, and Noodles were Bagged. We gave away over 40 pairs to lads who got their rigs out. No noodles were harmed, lost, or injured, although Sunday morning some of us felt like we got hit by one of the Fijian Units. We can’t wait for next year, it’ll be overdue for a Noodle Bagz game on the main pitch during one of those long breaks.

All in all, it was a great start to what could be one of the best stops on the series circuit. Lots of opportunities for Rugby and Noodle Bagz in the USA. We can’t wait to see all you legends next year.
