5 Tips for Setting a Personal Best at This Year's Reverse Tri
1 - EYE ON THE PRIZE
The run from Santa Clara to Law Street can be tricky and filled with obstacles like seaweed, a child, or that belter who’s number you were totally going to get at shore club but the music was too loud. Like a good race horse you may want to invest in some fresh blinders, we can recommend anything from local brand WILLIAM PAINTER.
2 - SHOULDER CARRY UP THE STAIRS
2.5 kilometers into the Bike Leg comes the stairs at Ingraham Street Bridge. Your beach cruiser’s weight will play a big part but our tip is to shoulder carry the bike. There are exactly 46 stairs to the top and it’s a narrow pathway up to the street. Keep your feet underneath you and watch out for the inevitable traffic jam.
3 - 112 SECOND WINDOW
At the top of Ingraham street bridge you’ll see the bay to your right, fiesta island to your left, and the first set of stoplights. That little light stays green for about 112 seconds. Time it perfect and you can get maximum speed down the hill.
4 - NAIL THE TRANSITION
A lot of time can be made up in between legs. Know where your bike has been placed, and keep it unlocked. Maybe even ride it directly into the water. How bad do you want it?
