Preview: Beach Touch Rugby World Championships
WHO WILL BE CROWNED CHAMPION
With less than 10 days till the Beach Touch Rugby World Championships we look ahead and preview a few of the teams. Custom designs have been submitted and there are some outrageous ones. This year could prove to have the flashiest rugby, swimwear, and rigs. Stay tuned to for the official Power Rankings coming out soon.
Young Selects The Reigning Champions
Last year the Young Selects became Beach Touch Rugby royalty and won the inaugural Noodle Bagz tournament. Much of the squad has returned to defend their title. Speed and fitness fueled easy pool wins and helped them beat OMBAC in the final. Favorites again this year the question on everyone’s mind is can they go Back to Back and win this years Beach Touch Rugby World Championship.
Legion The Contenders
Anyone who knows rugby in the USA knows the quality of rugby this Legion team will bring to this years Beach Touch Rugby World Championships. Stacked with new academy blood that could become household names in the not too distant future, they are captained by the backrow specialist Psalm Wooching himself. We’re just wondering how they will cope trading in boots and jerseys for sand and their custom swimsuits. Definitely a team to keep your eye on for this years Beach Touch Tournament.
Del Mar Hoodz The Experience
Legend has it that these guys pioneered Beach Touch Rugby in San Diego. Either way the addition of the Del Mar Hoodz will raise the rugby standard for the entire championship. Their black and white striped custom bagz are a pair of classics, just like the Hoodz themselves.
OC Ravens The Dark Horse
The OC Ravens are shrouded in mystery. Almost as much as the design with donuts they chose for their custom bagz. No matter how they do in the Beach Touch Rugby World Championship their swimsuits look slick. We got a good feeling they’ll look good feel good and play good.
The Buffs Loosest Custom Design
When the request from the Buffs came in for custom bagz we immediately asked Siri for the tonnage cost of Buffalo Hide. Needless to say we nailed it and that these could be in the running for most outrageous customs we’ve made this year. If you happen to miss them on Saturday during the tournament, there’s a good chance you’ll get to see them in action later that night at The Beachcomber in Mission Beach.
